Young men are afraid of sexually experienced women while older guys prefer them, according to a saucy new study.
Worried about "measuring up", younger men find older, more experienced ladies threatening, claimed a study by researchers at the Kinsey Institute for Research in s*x, Gender, and Reproduction at Indiana University.
Older men, however, found them more arousing and also said they became pickier about their sexual partners as the years progessed.
And what one man finds a turn-on may not do anything for another guy, the study has found which debunks the popular notion that all men find the same thing sexy.
The men interviewed all expressed a range of experiences and feelings about the relationship between erections and desire, the importance of scent and relationships, and a woman's intelligence.
“We have a lot of assumptions about how men think and feel and behave sexually,” Erick Janssen, associate scientist at the Kinsey Institute, told Asian News International.
“We use all kinds of methods to measure men's sexual responses; in addition, we use questionnaires and surveys to ask about sexual behaviors. It's less common to sit down with men and ask them to talk about their experiences," he added.
For the study - to be published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior - 50 men were divided into three groups based on their age (18-24, 25-45 and 46 and over).
Some men reported factors such as depression or a risk of being caught having s*x as inhibiting them from having s*x, while other men found that it enhanced their desire.
The report also suggested that erections are not the best way to judge if a man is sexually aroused.
Most of the men interviewed said they had experienced erections without feeling aroused or interested.
“One of the main conclusions of the focus group study is that, just like women, men are different,” Janssen said.
“s*x researchers tend to focus a lot on differences between men and women, while not giving as much attention to the differences that exist among men, and women."
