I'm based in KL, but I'll be heading to Sarawak at the end of this month for Gawai. I'll probably be there for a week or two. I plan to write a story about the festival, and will be going with a photographer who has worked with the Geographic magazines in Asia and Britain. At the moment, we are in the midst of negotiating this story with several regional news and travel publications.

We're on the lookout for a proper traditional experience (not the touristy stuff you usually get as a visitor) -- so I'm wondering if you could recommend me the best places in the state to experience Gawai?

Gawai is coming and as usual, WAIfm Bidayuh is preparing a yearly Gawai stage show. This time will be in Kampung Bunuk, Jalan Puncak Borneo on the 17 Mei 2008.
